Justin Baldoni has spoken publicly for the first time since his lengthy legal battle with It Ends with Us co-star Blake Lively, saying he and his family have endured deep pain and that “there is so much more to say.”
According to Deadline, the actor-director shared a video on Instagram on Wednesday alongside his wife, Emily Baldoni, reflecting on what they described as nearly two years of trauma, healing and silence following the highly publicised legal dispute.
“We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say, because Lord knows we have,” Justin said. He explained that although they had considered speaking before, they never felt the timing was right.
Emily Baldoni said the family had struggled to understand what they had experienced and described the period as deeply traumatic. “We’ve had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like, how could something like this even happen? Let alone disguised as a fight for women. So much to unpack,” she said.
Justin added that many painful statements had been made over the past two years, creating what he described as unnecessary noise. Rather than contribute to it, he said they chose to allow the justice system to take its course.
The couple credited their faith, family, friends and supporters for helping them through the ordeal. Justin said the experience had strengthened their faith and reminded them what truly matters, including their children, loved ones and community.
He also thanked supporters who defended them while they remained silent. “There were so many of you who, when we didn’t have a voice, were our voice,” he said, adding that their support and prayers meant more than words could express.
Emily said they still have much they want to share but are not ready to do so. “There is so much more to say. That time will come, but for now, we are going to focus on continuing the healing and hanging out with our kiddos and enjoying life,” she said.
The statement comes after a federal judge ruled last month that Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios must pay Blake Lively’s legal fees in the lawsuit, amounting to $8,035,040.88.
Baldoni’s legal team has until 13 July to either accept the amount or challenge it. Deadline reported that representatives for Wayfarer Studios did not respond to requests for comment regarding the latest court filings.
