Popular presenter Shanta Jahan has returned to acting after an 11-year break. She has appeared as a teacher in the drama Ochena Pother Banke, written and directed by Mabrur Rashid Bannah. Abid Bin Parvez Pranto co-stars in the drama.

The story revolves around a growing attraction between a teacher and her student. Released on YouTube on 7 September, the drama has already attracted attention, with viewers particularly praising Shanta’s performance.

“I last acted in a drama 11 years ago. I received many offers afterwards, but I could not take them up for two reasons. I was extremely busy with presenting and had little time to think about acting. Besides, I did not like the stories or characters I was offered,” Shanta said.

She added that Bannah’s story suited her well and the character felt perfect for her, which convinced her to return. She said the drama has received a positive response since its release.

Asked whether she plans to act regularly, Shanta said presenting remains her main focus.

She added that she occasionally enjoys acting in dramas or working as a model in advertisements, but presenting is what she has always loved and where she finds complete fulfilment.
