A Jubo Dal activist was shot dead and five others were injured in a clash between two factions of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the Bakalia area of Chattogram city late Monday night.
The deceased was identified as Sajjad, 25.
The clash erupted in the Bakalia Access Road area over putting up and removing banners.
Eyewitnesses said the dispute began over a banner featuring a photo of Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Shahadat Hossain.
The altercation soon turned violent, leading to a chase and counter-chase followed by gunfire, leaving Sajjad dead on the spot and several others injured.
Bakalia Police Station Officer-in-charge Ikhtiar Uddin said Sajjad was killed during the clash.
