A journalist, Emdadul Haque Milon (45), was shot dead by miscreants in the Sholua area under Arongghata Police Station in Khulna on Thursday night, while another person was injured.
Milon worked for an online portal and was the secretary of the Arongghata Press Club, Arongghata Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shahjahan Ahmed confirmed.
According to police, Milon was sitting at a tea stall beside Janata Bank at Sholua Bazar when, at around 9:20pm, four miscreants arrived on a motorcycle, opened fire and fled the scene.
He was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Another person, Deba (43), who was also at the tea stall at the time, was injured in the shooting and has been admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
“We have started an operation to arrest the miscreants. Details will be known after investigation,” OC Shahjahan said.
