The 117th edition of the historic Jobbarer Boli Khela (wrestling) is set to take place at Laldighi Maidan in Chattogram on Saturday.
The eagerly awaited event, accompanied by a three-day Baishakhi Fair, has completed all preparations, according to the organisers.
Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Shahadat Hossain shared the details during a press conference at the CCC Library Auditorium on Wednesday.
He confirmed that the event will kick off at 3pm and will be inaugurated by Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasan Md Showkat Ali.
The winners of the competition will be awarded by Mayor Shahadat Hossain, with special guest Abu Sufian, member of parliament for Chattogram-9, also in attendance.
The Baishakhi Fair will begin on Friday, a day before the wrestling competition, and will run in conjunction with the event.
In light of the ongoing SSC exams, the organisers have adjusted the fair’s schedule this year. The fair will conclude by the early morning hours of Sunday.
To ensure the safety and smooth execution of both the fair and the wrestling match, robust security measures have been implemented by the CMP and Rapid Action Battalion.
These include the installation of CCTV cameras, watchtowers, drone surveillance, as well as the deployment of SWAT and bomb disposal units. Additionally, medical teams and fire services will be on standby to handle any emergencies during the event.
