Israeli authorities have announced the reopening of major holy sites in Jerusalem to visitors and worshippers following a temporary ceasefire in the Middle East conflict.
The reopening will take effect from Thursday morning, with police deploying hundreds of additional officers to ensure security and manage crowds, reports BBC.
The sites include the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, the Western Wall and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, all located within the Old City and considered among the holiest places in Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
These locations had remained largely closed for weeks due to the conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran. Access was restricted to a limited number of clergy during major religious observances, including Easter and parts of Passover.
The usually busy Old City witnessed a sharp decline in activity during the period. Many shops and market stalls remained closed, while the number of residents, tourists and worshippers dropped significantly.
Police have urged visitors to remain patient in case of congestion as normal access resumes.
