The International Crimes Tribunal-2 has ordered jail authorities to produce four individuals, including former Dhaka-5 MP Kazi Monirul Islam Monu, before the court on 3 August in connection with the killing of 17 people in the capital’s Jatrabari area during the July mass uprising.
The three other accused are former Jatrabari Police Station officer-in-charge Abul Hasan, former Dhaka South City Corporation Ward-63 councillor Shafiqul Islam Khan, and Jatrabari Thana Awami League (AL) general secretary Harunur Rashid Munna.
The tribunal passed the order following an application submitted by the prosecution.
Prosecutor Faruque Ahmed told the court that 17 people were killed in Jatrabari on 19 July and 20, 2024, during the peak of the student-led mass uprising.
He said investigators were continuing their probe into the alleged crimes against humanity and had found the involvement of the four accused, who are currently in jail in connection with other cases.
Among the accused, former OC Abul Hasan is already facing trial in another crimes against humanity case over the killing of Imam Hasan Taim Bhuiyan in Jatrabari.
After hearing the prosecution’s submission, the tribunal set August 3 for producing the accused before it.
