Janata Bank PLC has introduced a Visa dual currency debit card, expanding its digital banking offerings to support both domestic and international transactions.

The card was inaugurated on Sunday through a virtual programme by Financial Institutions Division Secretary Nazma Mobarek, who attended as chief guest.

Janata Bank Chairman Md Fazlur Rahman presided over the event, while Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Debdulal Roy, Financial Institutions Division Joint Secretary and Chief Innovation Officer Farida Yasmin, and the bank’s Managing Director Md Mazibur Rahman joined as special guests.

Also present were Deputy Managing Director Kazi Abdur Rahman, Deputy Managing Director Md Fayez Alam, ICT Division General Manager Mohammad Anis, along with senior officials from the head office and branch managers who participated virtually.

The launch marks a step towards enhancing technology-driven services, with the bank aiming to offer greater flexibility in payments and transactions.

In her remarks, Nazma Mobarek described the introduction of the card as a significant milestone for Janata Bank.

The dual currency debit card will allow customers to make online purchases both within Bangladesh and abroad, subject to passport endorsement requirements.

Users will also be able to book flights and hotels, recharge mobile phones and withdraw cash in local currency from Visa network ATMs worldwide, alongside accessing a range of other payment services.
