Janata Bank PLC held its 897th board meeting on Tuesday, chaired by M Fazlur Rahman, chairman of the bank’s board of directors, with discussions centred on the recovery of classified defaulted loans and other operational matters, the bank said in a press release.
The meeting was attended by directors Badre Munir Ferdous, Abdul Majid Sheikh, Dr Md Shahadat Hossain, Md Ahsan Kabir and Professor Dr A A Mahbub Uddin Chowdhury, along with Managing Director Md Mojibur Rahman and Deputy Managing Director Kazi Abdur Rahman.
Board members reviewed the state-owned lender’s progress on recovering classified loans, a persistent challenge for Bangladesh’s public banking sector, alongside a broader set of administrative and operational issues facing the institution.
