Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is set to change its official party logo, with the new design expected to be formally unveiled soon.
Although the party has not yet officially launched the new logo, its use has already been noticed.
The new logo appeared during a meeting between Jamaat Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman and the EU election observation team along with the Spanish ambassador in Bashundhara area of Dhaka on Sunday.
The redesigned logo places greater emphasis on the national flag of green and red, while retaining the party’s electoral symbol, the scales, in a modernised form. It also incorporates the image of a pen and a book.
Earlier, a senior Jamaat leader told Times of Bangladesh that the new logo was being designed to keep the scales intact while aligning partly with the look of the national flag.
However, Maulana Abdul Halim, a central executive council member and assistant secretary general of Jamaat, clarified that the final version has not yet been approved.
“Our logo is being redesigned, and several options have been created at the directive from the Jamaat chief. The one that appeared on Sunday was not meant for release — it came out by mistake. The final logo will be decided within the next few days,” he said.
