Ganosamhati Andolon-GSA has strongly condemned and expressed outrage over a police baton-charge on a protest rally in Agargaon, Dhaka, reads a press release.
The rally was organised to oppose an agreement with DP World to operate the New Mooring Terminal at Chittagong Port.
In a joint statement, Ganosamhati Andolon-GSA Acting Chief Coordinator Dewan Abdur Rashid Nilu, and Executive Coordinator Abul Hasan Rubel of the Central Executive Committee denounced the police action.
The political leaders said that such conduct by the police, which curtails the democratic right to assembly, can in no way be accepted. They demanded that those involved in the incident be immediately brought to accountability and justice.
