The Jibannagar upazila unit of Jamaat-e-Islami has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the local administration to arrest BNP activists allegedly involved in the killing of a Jamaat activist.
The deceased, identified as Hafizur Rahman, 45, was a resident of Sutia village and a local Jamaat activist. He died following a clash between BNP and Jamaat supporters on Saturday evening, which also left four others from both parties injured.
Protesting the death, Jamaat brought out a procession from its upazila office around 11am on Sunday. The rally was presided over by Jibannagar Upazila Jamaat Ameer Sajedur Rahman.
Other speakers included Chuadanga District Majlisul Mufassirin Parishad President Hafizur Rahman, and Jibannagar Upazila Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Sakhawat Hossain.
The namaz-e-janaza for the victim was scheduled to be held around 3pm on Sunday in his home village of Sutia.
