Bangladeshi expatriate SM Tarek Mohsin, killed in Bahrain by debris from an Iranian missile, was laid to rest at Halishahar in Chattogram.
His namaz‑e‑janaza was held around 11:30am on Saturday in Nayabazar area under Halishahar Police Station. After the prayer, he was buried at a graveyard beside a local mosque.
His body arrived in Bangladesh on Friday after a month‑long wait and diplomatic procedures and was taken to Chattogram in the morning.
On 2 March, while working at a shipyard near Manama, the capital of Bahrain, missile fragments struck his head, killing him instantly. Two other Bangladeshi expatriates were injured in the incident.
Tarek was son of Saidul Haque of Azimpur union in Sandwip upazila, Chattogram. After river erosion destroyed their ancestral home, the family had long been living in Boubazar area of Halishahar. He was the sole breadwinner.
He left behind his wife and a daughter, currently a higher secondary student. Local lawmaker Saidul Noman, political leaders, and many residents attended the janaza.
In remarks before the prayer, MP Noman said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other agencies had been in constant contact to bring back Tarek’s body. He expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured them of support.
A representative also conveyed condolences on behalf of former Sandwip MP Mostafa Kamal Pasha.
The incident occurred amid ongoing Middle East tensions, when an Iranian missile was intercepted near Bahrain’s border and fragments fell on Tarek.
