A man was killed after being hit by a city corporation garbage truck in South Banasree, Dhaka.
Khilgaon Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Ashikur confirmed the matter. The accident occurred at around 9am on Saturday on the road in front of the Singer showroom in South Banasree. The deceased has been identified as Sajedul Islam, 48.
SI Ashikur said Sajedul was riding his scooter towards his residence. A Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) garbage truck struck him from behind and he died on the spot.
He added that an agitated mob caught and beat the truck driver immediately following the accident.
Upon receiving the news, police rescued the driver and seized the garbage truck. The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for an autopsy after the preparation of the inquest report.
