The schedule for the local government election will be finalised on 17 September after consultations with relevant ministries, divisions and authorities, Election Commission (EC) Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said on Tuesday.
He said the decision would be taken at a preparatory meeting with stakeholders, officials from different ministries and those directly involved in election activities.
“On 17 September, we will hold a meeting with the stakeholders concerned, officials from various ministries and those directly involved in election voting activities. Based on the input received after the meeting, the Commission will finalise the schedule for the local government election,” Akhtar told journalists at the Election Building in Agargaon.
He said the EC would provide further updates after receiving feedback from the meeting.
The preparatory meeting will also discuss the Thakurgaon-1 constituency by-election, scheduled to be held with representatives from relevant ministries, divisions and authorities on Thursday, 17 September.
