The Chuadanga BSCIC industrial city has begun to show visible progress as factory construction and production activities commence.
The industrial zone is expected to play a vital role in the national economy by reducing dependency on imports.
This development is transforming the socio-economic landscape and business environment of the region, with the potential to create employment opportunities for thousands of unemployed people.
Established in June 2021 in Dingedaha village of Chuadanga Sadar Upazila, the industrial city spans 25.12 acres.
The project was implemented at a total cost of over Tk41 crore. The estate features 78 plots categorized into five types, with the allocation process beginning on 16 February 2022.
To date, 36 entrepreneurs have purchased 43 plots for industrialisation, while 35 plots remain unsold. The price per decimal of land has been fixed at Tk2.10 lakh.
The industrial city is equipped with modern infrastructure, including advanced drainage systems, wide paved roads, water pipelines and pumps, electricity, a dumping yard, a pond, an office, and staff quarters.
The zone is slated to host a variety of industries, such as agricultural machinery, fertilisers, pesticides, steel mills, and aluminium utensil factories.
While entrepreneurs initially showed little interest in purchasing plots, demand has recently surged.
Ferdous, the owner of Krishan Agro Chemicals, noted that while the environment is favourable and land prices are low, there is a need for guaranteed security and easier access to low-interest bank loans to accelerate activities.
Monzurul Huda, owner of Sweet Agrovate and a plot purchaser, remarked that the cost of establishing an institution in Chuadanga is significantly lower than in other areas due to excellent communication links.
He emphasised that these factories would create local jobs and help decrease reliance on imports.
ABM Anisuzzaman, the deputy manager of Chuadanga BSCIC, expressed optimism regarding the remaining plot sales, stating that demand is currently very high.
He noted that construction is ongoing at several sites and that the authorities are working to ensure all facilities for entrepreneurs are met. He expects the remaining 35 plots to be sold within the next two years and has informed higher authorities about further increasing facilities for entrepreneurs.
