Speculation had been rife that Prarthana Fardin Dighi or Sabila Noor would take the lead opposite Siam Ahmed in the upcoming film ‘Rakkhosh’. However, production sources have confirmed that Kolkata actress Idhika Paul has been finalised for the role, with the project to be directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy.

Siam and Idhika were previously announced as co-stars in Tamim Rahman’s ‘Sikandar’ early last year, though the project has since gone quiet. If all proceeds as planned, Rakkhosh will mark the first on-screen collaboration between the pair. Idhika is expected to sign her contract later this week.

Paul, who rose to prominence among Bangladeshi audiences through the Shakib Khan blockbuster ‘Priyotoma’, quickly made her mark with her screen presence and romantic performance. She later reunited with Khan in ‘Borbaad’ and went on to star opposite Shariful Raj in Hashibur Reza Kallol’s ‘Kobi’.

In Kolkata, she has continued to build her profile through notable roles opposite Dev in ‘Khadaan’ and ‘Raghu Dakat’. Her rising popularity now spans both Bangladesh and India.

Filming for Rakkhosh is scheduled to begin this month in Dhaka, with additional shoots planned in Sri Lanka and Malaysia. The production team intends to employ international locations and high-end action sequences to elevate the film’s scale beyond director Hridoy’s previous works.

Both the director and Siam Ahmed have declined to comment publicly on the project, but insiders say cameras are set to start rolling within a fortnight. If production stays on schedule, the film is expected to hit cinemas next Eid-ul-Fitr.
