Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury inspected the Central Control Room at Police Headquarters (PHQ) on Wednesday to assess law enforcement readiness ahead of 13th parliamentary election and referendum.
According to a press release, he reviewed overall security arrangements, real-time surveillance systems, communication protocols, and nationwide emergency response preparedness.
Officials briefed him extensively on the control room’s operations and ongoing measures to preserve law and order throughout the election period.
Later, the adviser proceeded to New Market and Mohammadpur police stations to evaluate field-level preparations. He engaged with duty officers and instructed them to maintain vigilance, impartiality, and professionalism while discharging their election responsibilities.
Reaffirming the necessity of conducting a free, fair, and peaceful election, he directed law enforcement agencies to implement all requisite measures ensuring public safety and enabling voters to cast their ballots without intimidation or interruption.
Police officials told him that specialised security plans are operational and forces remain fully equipped to address any contingency.
