Students have blocked the High Court-Fisheries Building road, demanding the ordinance for Dhaka Central University.
On Monday evening, they took their position on the road.
Earlier, from the morning, students had taken position in front of the Education Building demanding the issuance of the ‘Dhaka Central University” ordinance.
Students have been carrying out protest programmes for several days demanding the issuance of the Dhaka Central University ordinance. In this situation, after taking position in front of the Education Building, they said they would not leave until the ordinance is issued.
Despite the draft law of the university being published, they are expressing frustration over the lack of any effective steps from the Ministry of Education. The students complain that they are suffering from identity crisis. Alongside session jams, a future career crisis is also being created.
Earlier on Sunday morning, demanding the ordinance, they blocked various roads in the capital. Later, to avoid public suffering, they lifted the blockade but announced that no one would return home until the ordinance is received. As a result, they spent the night in front of the Education Building and continued their protest.
On 12 November, the Ministry of Education informed about a policy decision to establish a new public university named Dhaka Central University by merging seven colleges. The same message also stated that the affiliation with Dhaka University has been revoked.
