Jannatul Sumaiya Heme, one of the popular actors of her generation in Bangladesh’s television industry, spent her birthday on set once again. Her birthday fell on 4 October, and a busy shooting schedule kept her occupied with Zubayer Ibn Bakar’s drama ‘Akaran’.
In ‘Akaran’, written and directed by Zubayer Ibn Bakar, Heme plays Tanu, opposite Niloy Alamgir. The drama explores different turns in everyday life. Scenes were filmed in several parts of the capital, including a colony in Motijheel and Farmgate. Heme believes the varied locations have added another dimension to the production.
“There was really no other option. That is why I had to work on a drama even on my birthday,” Heme said. “Niloy Alamgir bhai is my co-star in ‘Akaran’. The story is very beautiful. It brings out different turns in our everyday lives. Since we filmed in Motijheel’s colony, Farmgate and several other locations, the drama also has variety in terms of locations, which I think viewers will enjoy. As usual, I have tried to portray my character with full attention.”
Heme also thanked her fans, viewers, well-wishers, media workers and family for showering her with birthday wishes and love. She expressed particular gratitude to her mother, Roksana Begum, and father, Abu Bakar.
Two days before the birthday, Heme’s solo drama ‘Kantak Probashi’, directed by Mohin Khan, premiered on YouTube. Niloy Alamgir is also her co-star in the drama. She is also acting opposite Niloy in the serial drama ‘Prothom Premer Golpo’, directed by Tanvir Tanmoy for broadcast on Naf Entertainment’s YouTube channel. Heme is optimistic about the serial.
On the night of 3 October, Heme cut her birthday cake at home with her parents. Her mother, Roksana Begum, also asked the public to pray for her daughter. “I ask the people of the country and Heme’s fans to pray for my daughter. May Allah keep her healthy and well, and may she continue to give audiences dramas with beautiful stories,” she said.
Heme learnt singing as a child. In 2025, she lent her voice to the song ‘Tumi Amay Bhalobasho’ with Siam Ahmed. In 2026, she also sang ‘Dujon Dujonar’ with Rafi. Her only film to date is ‘Hothat Dekha’, directed by Reshmi Mitra.
