Sulaiman left his home in Nayagaon Purba Para, Munshiganj, with one purpose to help a neighbour who had suffered a stroke. He joined the family in rushing the patient to Dhaka’s Mitford Hospital.
He stayed until the patient was admitted, then began the journey back home. Not long after, the hospital called to inform him that the neighbour had died.
Shaken, Sulaiman stepped off a bus and quickly boarded a ride‑sharing motorcycle to return to the hospital. But he never made it back.
Around 1am, near the Shanir Akhra foot‑over bridge, the bike tried to overtake a CNG auto‑rickshaw. The driver lost control, throwing Sulaiman onto the road. A covered van coming from behind ran over him.
Rescuers took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police later confirmed the van was seized and its driver arrested. Arrangements were underway to hand over the body to his family without autopsy.
Sulaiman’s brother‑in‑law, Liton Bepari, said his final act of kindness — accompanying a sick neighbour to hospital — showed the kind of man he was.
