Election materials for 11 remote polling centres in Bandarban have been transported by military helicopters ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election.
The materials reached the centres on Sunday, according to the Bandarban District Election Office.
Ballot boxes, ballot papers and other voting equipment were airlifted to seven centres in Thanchi, one in Alikadam, two in Ruma and one in Rowangchhari.
Election officials were not sent with the materials in the first phase. They will be flown to the respective centres in a second phase on 11 February.
Local sources in Thanchi said a military helicopter arrived at the upazila headquarters around 12:30pm, after which election materials for all 11 centres were loaded and dispatched.
In Ruma, election materials were sent to two remote centres under the supervision of the assistant returning officer and the upazila nirbahi officer.
Officials from the upazila election office were present during the process.
