A mild heatwave is sweeping parts of Bangladesh and may persist over the next 24 hours from 9am on Monday, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said.
According to the Met office bulletin, the heatwave is affecting Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions, as well as Dhaka, Tangail, Narsingdi, Mymensingh, Chandpur, Lakshmipur, Brahmanbaria and Patuakhali districts.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty or squally winds and lightning are likely at a few places in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two spots in Rangpur, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Barishal divisions.
Moderately heavy falls may occur in Chattogram and Sylhet.
Elsewhere, weather may remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. Day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
Sunday’s highest temperature was 37.5°C in Syedpur, while Monday’s lowest was 21.2°C in Narsingdi. Sunset in Dhaka is at 6:42pm, with sunrise at 5:11am on Tuesday.
