Ramizuddin Ahmed has been elected president and Md Mazam Ali Khan secretary general of the Bangladesh Tax Lawyers Association (BTLA) for the 2026–2029 term.

They were elected at the organisation’s 39th General Meeting held at the Dhaka Taxes Bar Hall Room on Friday.

A total of 31 office bearers were elected to various posts in the executive committee, including 11 Vice Presidents and 11 Deputy Secretaries General.

The 11 newly elected Vice Presidents are: Syed Abdun Noor (Dhaka Capital City), Alhaj Md Musa (Commercial Capital City – Chattogram), Md Shamsur Rahman Khan (Dhaka Division), Mostafa Kamal Mansur (Chattogram Division), Advocate Khan Moniruzzaman (Khulna Division), Md Muntasir Mamun (Rajshahi Division), SM Enayet Karim (Barisal Division), Abul Fazal (Sylhet Division), Hosein Ahmed Shahjahan (Comilla Division), Mohammad Ruhul Amin (Mymensingh Division), and Kazi Mostafizur Rahman (Rangpur Division).

In addition, Md Abu Naser Majumder was elected Additional Secretary General, while Nurullah Bhuiyan Belal was elected Treasurer.

The 11 Deputy Secretaries General elected to the committee are: ATM Rashed Babu (Dhaka Capital City), Md Imam Uddin (Commercial Capital City – Chattogram), Md Jahangir Alam Khan (Dhaka Division), Md Sarwar Alam Bhuiyan (Chattogram Division), Md Aminur Rahman (Khulna Division), Amirul Hasan Ratan (Rajshahi Division), Rajiul Kabir (Barisal Division), Md Mizanur Rahman (Mithu) (Sylhet Division), Md Abul Hashem Ratan (Comilla Division), Rakibul Ahsan (Mymensingh Division), and Mazmul Hossain Pramanik (Rangpur Division).

Furthermore, Md Solaiman was elected organising secretary, Ashraf Hossain Khan as legal aid and social welfare secretary, MA Halim Montu as cultural secretary, Md Nur Nabi Patwary as information and publicity secretary, and Md Jamaluddin as office secretary.

Speaking on his re-election for a second term, BTLA President Ramizuddin Ahmed expressed his gratitude and thanks to all respected tax lawyers across the country. He said that he considers this honour, dignity, responsibility, and achievement as the collective gain of tax lawyers nationwide.

He expressed his commitment to dedicating himself to the welfare of his colleagues at the final stage of his long professional career. He also sought the cooperation of all members to safeguard the professional dignity and rights of tax lawyers, ensure their welfare, and make the organisation stronger and more effective.

President Ramizuddin Ahmed added that alongside changes in revenue management, a strong role will be taken to increase national revenue collection and protect taxpayers’ interests through joint training and seminars for tax lawyers in discussion with the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

He highlighted that as a result of his active efforts as President to strengthen BTLA, the NBR Chairman has already allocated an additional office room alongside the BTLA office.

He reaffirmed that the new committee will work unitedly for the interests of tax lawyers, professional dignity, and organisational development, seeking earnest cooperation from all respected tax lawyers once again.
