The High Court on Tuesday rejected a rule regarding the bail of Mozammel Haque Babu, the former chief editor of Ekattor TV, in a murder case related to July mass uprising filed with Badda Police Station.
A bench comprising Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajol and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher delivered the verdict.
The court had previously set 5 May for the order following the conclusion of the rule hearing on 3 May.
Earlier, on 27 April, a bench consisting of Justice ASM Abdul Mobin and Justice KM Rasheduzzaman Raja had issued a rule asking the authorities to clarify why Mozammel Babu should not be granted bail. During the proceedings, Advocate Najmus Sakib Tushti appeared on behalf of the petitioner.
Mozammel Babu has been in prison since 16 September last year. He was detained while attempting to flee to India illegally through the border area of Dhobaura Upazila in Mymensingh.
His attempt to leave the country followed the fall of Sheikh Hasina government on 5 August.
