Police have arrested a youth accused of raping a 17‑year‑old girl and recording the incident in Kotchandpur upazila.
The suspect, identified as Sourav Kumar Nitai, 22, was detained on Tuesday, Kotchandpur Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ansarul Haque confirmed.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), Sourav had established a relationship with the victim eight months ago. He allegedly took her to different locations over time and secretly recorded videos. On 25 March, he threatened to leak the footage and raped her.
The victim initially remained silent out of fear that the videos would be circulated. On 4 May, she disclosed the incident to her family. Her mother subsequently filed a rape case.
Inspector Ansarul said police arrested Sourav and produced him before court. The victim has been sent to Jhenaidah 250‑bed General Hospital for medical examination, he added.
