The High Court on Sunday granted bail to Chandan Kumar Dhar, popularly known as Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote, in two cases.
A bench of Justice KM Zahid Sarwar and Justice Sheikh Abu Taher delivered the order.
Lawyer Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya represented former ISKCON leader Chinmoy during the hearing.
The cases relate to allegations of vandalism.
Earlier, the High Court had issued a rule seeking an explanation as to why Chinmoy should not be granted bail in the cases.
On 31 October, 2024, Firoz Khan, general secretary of the Chandgaon Mohra Ward BNP unit in Chattogram city, filed a sedition case with Kotwali Police Station against Chinmoy and 18 others.
Chinmoy was arrested on 25 November, 2024, along with several others in connection with the case.
Following the rejection of his bail plea in the sedition case, a clash broke out at the Chattogram court premises on 26 November, 2025, amid protests by his supporters.
During the incident, lawyer Saiful Islam was allegedly beaten and hacked to death.
Saiful’s father later filed a murder case over the incident, naming Chinmoy as an accused.
Several other cases are also pending against Chinmoy.
