Popular rock band Ark’s vocalist Hasan is set to headline a special rock concert in Dhaka following an incident in which a bottle was thrown at him during a recent concert.
The incident took place at the ‘Borsha Biplober Gaan’ concert, organised at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital to mark July Mass Uprising Day.
The incident drew widespread criticism from musicians and fans, with many taking to social media to condemn the treatment of the veteran singer.
In response, X Force Presence is organising a special rock concert titled ‘Loud City Takeover’, aimed at sending a message about respecting artists and ensuring their freedom to perform.
The concert will be held on 4 September at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in Dhaka.
Hasan and his band Ark will headline the event, alongside seven other bands.
Composer and rock musician AK Rahul announced the concert in a social media post on Tuesday (25 August).
Recalling the incident, Rahul said the treatment of Hasan had deeply affected the music community.
He said he had immediately called Tinku, expressed his concern and promised to organise an event where music legends could perform freely and receive the respect they deserve.
According to Rahul, the concert was planned to give artists the freedom to perform without unnecessary restrictions or time constraints, with the focus remaining on music and the performers.
The organisers said ‘Loud City Takeover’ will prioritise rock music over excessive showmanship and visual spectacle.
They also said the event would focus on artistic freedom and respect for musicians.
Keeping music lovers in mind, ticket prices have also been kept affordable, according to the organisers.
Alongside Hasan and Ark, seven other bands will perform at the concert, making it a major gathering for rock music fans in Dhaka.
