The body of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi has been taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka for autopsy.
Around 9:45am on Saturday, his body was moved from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar under tight security.
After the autopsy, Hadi’s funeral prayer will be held at 2pm at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad building. His body will then be taken to Dhaka University’s central mosque for the public to pay their respects.
Later, in accordance with the family’s request, Osman Hadi will be buried beside national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, said Dhaka University Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed.
Osman Hadi died while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital around 9:45pm (Bangladesh time) on Thursday. He was shot on Box Culvert Road in Bijoynagar, Dhaka, on 12 December. He was fired upon from a passing motorcycle while seated in an autorickshaw.
After receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, he was transferred to Evercare Hospital. From there, on Monday, he was flown to Singapore for advanced treatment. Following his death while under care there, his body was brought back to Bangladesh on Friday evening. It was then kept in the cold storage of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.
