The Ganosamhati Andolan has condemned the government for what it described as its indifference in tackling the worsening dengue crisis across the country.

In a joint statement, the party’s chief coordinator Zonayed Saki and executive coordinator Abul Hasan Rubel said the government’s inaction in dengue control was “extremely condemnable.”

They urged the authorities to take immediate and effective measures to bring the situation under control.

The leaders said that despite 251 deaths from dengue so far this year, the government had shown no urgency in its response. According to official data, more than 61,000 people have been hospitalised with dengue.

They claimed that the actual number of infections was likely much higher, as many patients were unable to reach hospitals for treatment. Even government hospital costs were beyond the means of ordinary citizens, they added. “We are shocked and angered to see the government’s indifference while people face the risk of death,” the statement said.

The Ganasamhati Andolon leaders also criticised the absence of a year-round dengue control plan, saying the authorities had failed to take any effective action even after so many deaths. “We condemn such negligence,” they said.

They called for immediate, effective, and long-term government measures to control the outbreak and prevent future surges, along with urgent special arrangements for dengue treatment at public hospitals.
