Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostafa Sarwar Farooki visited Chhayanaut in Dhanmondi on Friday afternoon to inspect the damage caused during the attack and met with organisers, including Partha Tanvir Naved.
Farooki said authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to identify and take legal action against those involved in the attack.
He assured that the government will provide all necessary support, including financial assistance, to repair the damaged premises and ensure the institution reopens promptly.
“The security of the building is being strengthened, with strict deployment of BGB and police outside Chhayanaut. I have also discussed the matter with other members of the advisory council,” Farooki added.
Addressing journalists, he described the attack as “a conspiracy to disrupt the election” and criticised those responsible for shifting attention from the mourning over Sharif Osman Hadi’s death.
“Who attacked Prothom Alo, The Daily Star, and Chhayanaut? Those who did not want democratic transition in Bangladesh carried out these acts,” he said.
Farooki further condemned the attack, saying it was carried out by a group attempting to destabilise the country during a period of national grief.
“Attacking a cultural institution after the martyrdom of Hadi is not only a criminal act but also goes against the spirit of the July mass uprising,” he said.
