The government is preparing lists of farmers affected by floods across the country to provide targeted assistance, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Aminur Rashid Yasin said on Saturday.
He said necessary preparations had already been taken to support flood-hit farmers, with lists being compiled at union and ward levels in affected areas.
The minister made the remarks while speaking to reporters after attending the inauguration ceremony of the National Tree Fair-2026 at Cumilla Town Hall ground as the chief guest.
“In areas where farmers have been affected by floods, union and ward-based lists are being prepared. Once the lists are completed, the government will provide necessary assistance to the farmers,” he said.
Responding to concerns over the Prime Minister’s dissatisfaction with alleged irregularities in tree plantation programmes, Aminur Rashid said a “long-standing culture of looting” still exists among some individuals.
However, he warned against such practices, saying the Prime Minister herself is regularly monitoring the progress of tree plantation initiatives.
“Therefore, there is no scope for any irregularities in this programme,” he added.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Cumilla City Corporation Administrator Yousuf Molla Tipu, Deputy Commissioner Rosy Akter and Superintendent of Police Md Anisuzzaman, among others.
