Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has briefed Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus on the preparations for the upcoming parliamentary election and referendum, according to a post on the CA’s official Facebook page.
On Sunday evening, during a meeting with the chief adviser at state guesthouse Jamuna, led by Chief Election Commissioner Nasir Uddin, the Election Commission (EC) commissioners informed about the progress of election preparations.
Election Commissioners Abdur Rahman Maksud, Tahmida Ahmed, Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar, Brigadier General (Retd) Abul Fazl Mohammad Sanaullah, and Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed were present at the meeting.
On the other hand, National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman and the Chief Adviser’s Principal Secretary M Siraj Uddin Mia were present at the meeting.
At the meeting, CEC Nasir Uddin informed that all kinds of preparations for holding the election are progressing correctly and smoothly, and the commission is fully prepared to hold the national election and the referendum on the same day in the first half of February.
The CEC and other commissioners thanked the chief adviser for providing full support to the EC during the preparatory period.
He also thanked the members of the law enforcement agencies and the army, through the chief adviser, for providing comprehensive support during the election preparations.
He said that citizens have already engaged themselves in electoral activities, which has created an election atmosphere in the country.
At this time, expressing satisfaction with the preparations of the Election Commission, the chief adviser said, “For the sake of a free and fair election, the government will continue all kinds of support to the Election Commission.”
He said, “In this eagerly awaited election for the nation, you (the EC) are in the driver’s seat. We must reach the desired goal.”
The chief adviser said that the interim government is committed to giving the nation a beautiful election.
“We are moving forward with the resolve to present the nation with the best election in history in the first half of February,” he added.
