Actor Govinda has responded to wife Sunita Ahuja’s recent comments about his Roopa co-star Komal Rani Swarnkar, including her reference to him as a “sugar daddy”.
According to NDTV, Sunita had publicly accused Govinda of having an affair with the actress.
In a lengthy statement, Govinda expressed disappointment over Sunita’s remarks and accused her of making comments that could damage his reputation and business.
He said she had previously sought his support for her television programmes, but was now making statements that could affect his ongoing film career.
Govinda also urged Sunita not to shame people from modest backgrounds who enter the film industry. “People from modest backgrounds who enter the film industry should not be shamed or humiliated to the point that they feel scared or forced to leave,” he said.
Addressing criticism over his age and pairing with younger actresses, Govinda argued that leading actors have worked with younger performers throughout their careers and continued to appear youthful on screen.
He also alleged that a group was working against him, saying its involvement would eventually become public.
Govinda concluded by asking Sunita to stop making public statements about him. “Please maintain some boundaries,” he said.
The actor also criticised Sunita for what he described as her frequent use of abusive language.
He said young people look up to her and warned that such behaviour could influence them negatively.
Meanwhile, Govinda and Komal have recently been seen together while promoting Roopa.
Their public appearances have revived Sunita’s earlier allegations about the actress, particularly after the pair were photographed together at Mumbai airport and later seen together again on Friday.
