Gold prices in Bangladesh fell sharply on Wednesday as the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) cut the price of 22-carat gold by Tk9,214 per bhori after six consecutive increases.

Under the revised rates effective from 10:00am, 22-carat gold now costs Tk2,68,214 per bhori, equivalent to 11.664 grams, BAJUS said in a statement.

The association said the price adjustment followed a decline in the cost of pure gold in the local market.

According to the new rates, 21-carat gold will cost Tk2,56,025 per bhori while 18-carat gold will be priced at Tk2,19,458 per bhori.

Gold produced under the traditional method has been fixed at Tk1,79,159 per bhori.

BAJUS last adjusted gold prices on Tuesday when it increased the rate of 22-carat gold by Tk3,324 to Tk2,77,428 per bhori.

At that time, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk2,64,773 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk2,26,981 per bhori and traditional gold at Tk1,85,749 per bhori.

Gold prices have been adjusted 37 times so far this year, with 24 increases and 13 reductions.

In 2025, the domestic gold market saw 93 price adjustments, including 64 hikes and 29 cuts.

Silver prices were also reduced in the latest revision.

The price of 22-carat silver dropped by Tk641 to Tk6,532 per bhori.

Under the new rates, 21-carat silver will cost Tk6,240 per bhori, 18-carat silver Tk5,365 per bhori and traditional silver Tk4,024 per bhori.

Silver prices have been adjusted 22 times this year, with 14 increases and eight reductions.

In 2025, silver prices were revised 13 times in the domestic market, including 10 increases and three reductions.
