Amid various controversies, the Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Mohammad Nazmul Karim Khan has been withdrawn.
He was instructed to hand over his responsibilities in an order signed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on Monday. He was also directed to report to the Police Headquarters in Dhaka by Tuesday.
Nazmul Karim Khan was appointed as the Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police on November 11 last year.
Recently, he came under criticism for closing roads for public use during his travel from Dhaka to Gazipur. Additionally, his work was being criticized due to the recent increase in various crimes in Gazipur over the past few days.
An internal report from the Police Headquarters also highlighted the deterioration of the law-and-order situation in Gazipur.
