Residents across several areas of Dhaka are experiencing severe gas shortage due to an unexpected technical fault near the Gonobhaban on Mirpur Road.
According to a press release issued on Saturday by Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC, a 4-inch diameter valve burst in the area, causing a leakage.
To facilitate urgent repairs, the utility provider was forced to shut down several valves within the distribution network. This has led to critically limited gas pressure in the supply lines, the release said.
The affected neighborhoods include Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur, Shyamoli, New Market, Hazaribagh, and Gabtoli, along with their adjoining areas.
Titas Gas authorities have confirmed that repair work to replace the faulty valve has already begun on an urgent priority basis and expressed regret for the disruption caused to its valued customers.
