Fuel rationing lifted for police, emergency services
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday said the government has withdrawn fuel rationing imposed on police and other emergency services.
He made the announcement in parliament while responding to a point of order raised by Cumilla-6 lawmaker Monirul Haque Chowdhury.
The prime minister said “The restriction on fuel supply for police and emergency services has been removed. The decision was implemented two days ago to maintain normal law and order to ensure smooth public movement.”
The issue of fuel shortage and rationing came up during a discussion on the killing of a customs official in Cumilla and a reported reduction in police patrols.
In response, the prime minister said the concern raised by the lawmaker has already been addressed.
He said “The embargo on fuel supply for police, ambulances and fire service units has been lifted.”
He added that the decision has already been enforced and clarified, expressing hope that such problems will not arise again.
