It has recently come to the attention of Bangladesh Open University (BOU) that a fraud ring is attempting to carry out fraudulent activities by illegally using the name, photograph and identity of the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan. The fraudsters are reportedly using the mobile number +8801357078022 and social media platforms to request money and deceive members of the public.
The university wishes to clarify that the mobile number +8801357078022 is not the personal or official number of the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University.
The BOU authorities urge everyone to remain highly vigilant against such fraudulent communications. The Vice-Chancellor does not request money from anyone through mobile phone calls, social media or any online platform for either personal or official purposes.
Anyone receiving such calls, messages or online communications is advised not to be misled or make any financial transactions. If necessary, the matter should be reported to the nearest law enforcement agency or the appropriate authorities of Bangladesh Open University.
Public awareness and vigilance remain the most effective means of preventing fraud.
