The prosecution’s fourth witness will testify before the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Monday against Hasanul Haq Inu, president of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), in a case over crimes against humanity during the July uprising.
After recording the testimony of the third witness on Sunday, the three-member ICT-2, headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, fixed the date.
The third witness, Sub-inspector Md Kamrul Hossain, gave his deposition on behalf of the prosecution.
Earlier, on 1 December, the tribunal began recording statements from prosecution witnesses in the case. On 25 September, the prosecution submitted eight specific charges to the tribunal. On the same day, after a hearing, the tribunal took cognisance of the charges against Inu.
To prove the allegations of crimes against humanity against Inu, also a freedom fighter, the prosecution has presented a list of 20 witnesses.
Additionally, three audio recordings and six video recordings have been submitted as evidence. It should be noted that Inu was arrested on 26 August last year and has remained in prison since then.
Later, he was shown arrested in the case involving crimes against humanity for the killing of six people in Kushtia during the July 2024 uprising. He previously served as Information Minister during the Awami League government.
However, in the 12th parliamentary elections, he lost his constituency in Kushtia to an independent candidate, despite contesting as a nominee of the AL alliance.
