Former state minister for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, was sent to jail after completing his remand period.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter issued the order on Thursday.

Police had taken Palak on a two-day remand in connection with the Abdul Jabbar Sumon murder case filed with Badda Police Station.

The investigating officer stated that Palak provided crucial information during interrogation and subsequently requested the court to keep him detained in jail.

According to case details, Abdul Jabbar Sumon was shot dead on the evening of August 5 last year during the student-led mass uprising. He was returning home from the DIT Project area in Merul Badda when unidentified assailants shot him.

Sumon’s mother, Nazma Begum, filed the case as the plaintiff. Alongside Palak, the complaint named nine individuals, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
