Government agencies have intensified relief coordination and public awareness activities in the country’s southeastern and northeastern districts as communities continue to face flash floods, landslides and hill collapses.
District and upazila information offices under the Department of Mass Communication, along with regional offices of the Press Information Department, are carrying out awareness campaigns in affected areas, according to an official statement issued on Sunday.

With all 15 upazilas of Chattogram district and the metropolitan area affected by flooding, the District Information Office has been publicising urgent notices about the postponement of Higher Secondary Certificate examinations.
Authorities are also conducting extensive public announcements and roadside campaigns, advising residents to avoid unsafe houses, maintain hygiene, prevent snakebites, protect children and elderly people, and remain alert to the risk of electrical accidents.
In Khagrachari, no fresh rainfall or landslides were reported. Although floodwaters have receded from most areas, normal life has yet to be fully restored.
The overall flood situation has improved in Cox’s Bazar municipality and 74 affected unions. The district recorded 58mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours.
Conditions in Rangamati remained normal, although the District Information Office continued roadside announcements urging residents in vulnerable areas to move to safer shelters.
The disaster situation in Bandarban has returned to normal, with the Sangu and Matamuhuri rivers flowing below the danger level. People have begun returning home from shelters.
In the Sylhet region, 29mm of rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours, causing water levels in major rivers, including the Surma, Kushiyara, Sari-Gowain and Piyain, to rise slightly.
The Surma remained below the danger level, while the Kushiyara was flowing above the danger mark at Fenchuganj.
Although there was no immediate risk of prolonged flooding, short-term inundation persisted in some low-lying areas. The overall flood situation in Sunamganj and Habiganj remained stable. However, the Kushiyara was flowing above the danger level at Markuli in Sunamganj.
Three upazilas in Habiganj were flooded after a breach in the Khoai River embankment, but water levels have begun to fall as rainfall has eased. The flood situation in Moulvibazar also remained stable, with the Manu River flowing below the danger level.
Although a breach developed in a river protection embankment in Kamalganj upazila, the situation in five unions of Moulvibazar Sadar was gradually improving.
The statement said field offices of the Press Information Department would continue roadside campaigns, film screenings and public announcements on measures to be taken during and after floods to keep people in disaster-hit areas informed and safe.
