Under the ongoing “Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2”, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a total of 29 suspects in the last 24 hours for their alleged involvement in various criminal activities.
The arrests were made by police personnel of Jatrabari, Rupnagar, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Kalabagan and Motijheel police stations.
According to DMP, Jatrabari police detained nine, Rupnagar six, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar six, Kalabagan one and Motijheel seven suspects during separate drives.
Sources at Jatrabari Police Station said on Wednesday, police conducted day-long drives in crime-prone areas under its jurisdiction as part of the operation and detained nine individuals.
The arrestees were identified as – Sohag Mia, 20, Monir, 35, Alauddin, 28, Ratan Mia, 30, Sifat, 20, Masum, 25, Liton, 29, Abdur Karim, 45, and Shafiqul Islam, 33.
Rupnagar Police Station sources said police conducted similar anti-crime drives throughout the day and arrested six individuals in connection with previous cases and other offences.
They were named as – Ulab Mia, 24, Raihan Ali, 18, Rony, 18, Nazmul Hasan, 22, Mostakin, 25, and Nayeem Hawlader, 31.
Meanwhile, sources at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station confirmed the arrest of six suspects following day-long operations in targeted areas.
The detainees were identified as – Babul, 22, Sagar Sardar, 22, Riad Hossain, 19, Nahidul Islam, 38, Shakil Ahmed, 28, and Islam, 38.
In a similar drive, Kalabagan Police Station detained one individual on Wednesday. The arrestee was identified as Sabuj Hossain, 32.
Motijheel Police Station sources said day-long operations ended with the arrest of seven individuals. They were named as – Suman Basak, 45, Anisur Rahman, 44, Niaz Hossain Lotus, 45, Monir, 55, Nur Alam, 24, Suruj Mia, 30, and Harun, 50.
Police said all arrestees have been sent to court.
