A fire gutted an aerosol warehouse on the second floor of a four-storey building in the capital’s Nimtoli area on Tuesday night.
Initially, the incident was believed to be a residential fire. However, Fire Service officials later confirmed that the affected premises was an aerosol storage warehouse, raising concerns due to the presence of chemical substances in the area.
According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence, the fire originated on the second floor of the building. Two units from Siddikbazar Fire Station rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control at around 9:35pm. The fire was fully extinguished by 10:18pm.
Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, told Times of Bangladesh that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
Authorities remained on high alert throughout the operation due to the potential risk posed by stored aerosol and chemical materials. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
