A fire that broke out near the TCB building in the capital’s Karwan Bazar area on Monday night has been brought under control. According to Fire Service and Civil Defence officials, the blaze was tamed shortly after 11pm.
Earlier, the fire originated at approximately 10:30pm and spread rapidly to nearby structures, including several shops constructed with wood.
Shahjahan Hossain, duty officer of the Fire Service control room, stated that five units commenced firefighting operations at 10:45pm.
The Fire Service official could not immediately provide information regarding the cause of the fire or any casualties.
The same night, a fire also broke out at a shoe factory in the Agamasi Lane area of Old Dhaka.
Three units of the Fire Service worked for 50 minutes to bring the blaze under control by around 11:35pm.
