Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury will hold a post-budget press briefing on Friday following the presentation of the proposed national budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
The press conference will take place at 3pm at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital. The minister is expected to highlight key aspects of the proposed budget and respond to questions from journalists.
According to government information, a Tk9,38,000 crore budget was placed in Parliament on Thursday. It is the largest budget in the country’s history and the 55th national budget.
The proposed budget sets a revenue target of around Tk7,00,000 crore, with the National Board of Revenue (NBR) expected to collect the bulk of it. The budget also projects a deficit of Tk2,43,000 crore. To finance the shortfall, the government plans to raise Tk1,16,000 crore from foreign loans and grants, while Tk1,27,000 crore will come from domestic sources.
Officials expect the briefing to provide detailed explanations on revenue mobilisation, expenditure management, deficit financing and overall economic growth projections.
