Actress, model and media personality Apu Biswas has sparked discussion with strong remarks about the current state of the Bangladeshi film industry, claiming that the working environment has deteriorated significantly over the past decade.

The popular actress, who has appeared in hundreds of films during a career spanning more than two decades, made the comments while speaking at a recent event. Although she is no longer as active on film sets as before, she continues to remain in the public eye through photoshoots and promotional work for various brands.

During her remarks, Apu Biswas alleged that the culture within Dhallywood has changed in a negative way since 2016.

“Since 2016, a lot of filth has started in the industry. I think the film industry has now become a dustbin,” she said, though she did not specify exactly what she meant by the term.

Reflecting on her early years in cinema, the actress said the environment was very different when she first entered the industry. Apu began dancing at a young age and later appeared in small roles in television dramas before starting her film career.

Her journey in Dhallywood began with a role in a film directed by Amjad Hossain. She said that when she joined the industry around 2007 or 2008, it was a vibrant and active place to work.

“When I came to the industry, you saw a working film industry. From that time, the audience’s love began to grow,” she said.

However, she believes that the spirit of cooperation has gradually disappeared. According to Apu, professional disagreements exist in every film industry, including those in Bollywood, Hollywood and Tollywood, but the overall working environment remains professional.

In recent years, Apu Biswas has spent more time focusing on business ventures and brand promotions rather than acting. She said she has not been receiving the type of film scripts she is interested in, which has limited her appearances on screen.

Despite this, the actress is preparing to return to film shooting more regularly. In December last year, she signed two new films. One is titled ‘Secret’, where she will star alongside Ador Azad. The other is ‘Durbaar’, in which she will act with Abdun Noor Sajal.

She has also been spending time at the gym to prepare for the roles and more than half of the shooting for both projects has already been completed.

Earlier, Apu appeared in director Bandhan Biswas’s films ‘Chaya Brikkho’ and ‘Lal Shari’, the latter being produced by Apu Biswas through her own production company.
