Although Ajoy Kar has been active in party politics for years, he has not been seen publicly in recent times. The authorities are also investigating whether he has any other pending cases or if he was involved in incidents related to the anti-discrimination student movement.

Ajoy Kar Khokon served as the general secretary of the BCL from 1998 to 2002 before becoming active in mainstream Awami League politics. In 2014, he sought the party’s nomination for the Kishoreganj-5 constituency in the 10th national parliamentary elections but failed to secure party backing.

His subsequent attempt to contest as an independent candidate was also blocked when the Election Commission rejected his nomination papers.
