Police have detained 30 individuals during a flash procession brought out by the Awami League and its affiliated groups, whose such activities have been banned, in the Farmgate and Tejgaon areas of Dhaka.

They also recovered four crude bombs during the operation.

Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, chief of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the arrests on Wednesday afternoon. He stated that the operation is ongoing and further details will be released after its completion.

Deputy Police Commissioner (Media) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that various teams from DMP promptly reached the scene and brought the situation under control. Four fresh crude bombs were seized near the front of the Water Development Board building during the drive.

Additional Police Commissioner SN Mohammad Nazrul Islam is scheduled to provide a detailed briefing on the matter at a press conference at the DMP media centre later on Wednesday.

Police have claimed that the attempt was aimed at creating political instability. Additional police personnels were deployed in the area to maintain order.
