Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 577 people over various offences during regular drives across the capital in the past 24 hours.
A total of 40 cases were also filed with different police stations during the period, the DMP said in a press release on Wednesday.
Of those arrested, 36 were held by Ramna Division, 42 by Lalbagh Division, 80 by Wari Division, 68 by Motijheel Division, 114 by Tejgaon Division, 143 by Mirpur Division, 39 by Gulshan Division, 42 by Uttara Division and 13 by the Detective Branch (DB).
During the drives, police recovered two Chinese axes, two switch gears, one knife and one dagger.
They also seized six crude bombs, 32.655kg of cannabis, 623 Yaba tablets and seven grams of heroin.
Police also recovered two private cars, an auto-rickshaw, seven laptops, 67 mobile phones, 484 SIM cards from different operators, 27 Visa cards and four electronic chips.
The DMP said the arrests were made during operations in different police station areas of the capital, where various items and narcotics were also recovered.
Further legal action against those arrested is under way.
